Writer
Suzan writes deeply felt mysteries that connect readers to the natural world around us. Her current projects, EVEN RAINBOW TROUT and BONES TO THE CEDARS, spring from a feral childhood growing up on a ranch in the Pacific Northwest and a career spent in the wilds of the urban jungle.
She is a member of Mystery Writers of America, Sisters in Crime, the Idaho Writers Guild, and The Cabin, a nonprofit that supports Boise’s community of readers, writers, and learners. Her shorter pieces of work have garnered awards and recognition, and she continues to hone her skills by attending workshops such as the one on strategies and techniques for dialogue and plot, led by David Heska Wanbli Weiden, professor at Stony Brook University (MFA program) and author of the national bestseller Winter Counts.
An advocate for nature and biodiversity, Suzan is a member of the Payette Land Trust, a local nonprofit dedicated to conserving the rural landscapes of Idaho. She has put down roots in a small mountain town in west-central Idaho, and when not writing or playing with her pup, Mac, she can be found with her husband on the ski slopes, the lake, or nearby hiking trails. Her latest reads include books by authors Tana French, Jeneva Rose, Kate Alice Marshall, James L’Etoile, Kishore Ram, and Nick Newman.
Suzan is represented by Gina Panettieri at Talcott Notch Literary.
